Certification Materials NALS offers three certifications dedicated to the legal services profession. The exams are of varying levels and are developed by professionals in the industry. ◊The exam for those with at least one year of general office experience, who have passed an accredited office curriculum course, or who have passed the NALS Legal Training Course is the ALS...the basic certification for legal professionals. ◊For those with at least three years' experience in the legal field, there is the PLS...the advanced certification for legal professionals. ◊The third certification, the Professional Paralegal (PP), is dedicated to those professionals who have at least five years’ experience performing paralegal/legal assistant duties. Each of the three certifications is developed by NALS and takes advantage of the more than 75 years of experience and dedication to the legal services industry only NALS has to offer. Detailed information on specific requirements, study materials, exam fees and application information is available at http://www.nals.org/certification/Index.html. There are many different methods available for studying for a certification exam. NALS of Phoenix
currently has an active certification study group available at no cost.
If you want further information about the study group, contact Whitney
Birk, CP at wbirk@fclaw.com.
Finally, some people just study better on their own. You can get the study materials through the information available at the NALS link and study at your own pace. In addition, through the various NALS publications, there is lots of information to help you hone your knowledge. The NALS of Phoenix Findings of Fact includes a quiz in each issue to test your knowledge of topics covered on the certification exams.
